Blue Legal are partnering with a national law firm specialising in IP, with a focus on life sciences, to join their London office. The role involves working closely with partners, group heads and business services teams, the role will drive strategic BD initiatives that attract new clients, deepen existing relationships and strengthen our reputation in key innovation sectors.
The Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute business development plans aligned with the firm’s sector strategies, geographical priorities, and global growth objectives across the UK, Europe, USA, and Japan.
- Collaborate with partners to identify and pursue domestic and international opportunities in priority sectors.
- Work with Marketing to attract innovators, start-ups, SMEs, and universities through targeted campaigns, tailored pitches, and participation in accelerators and innovation programmes.
- Strengthen relationships with key clients and prospects, support cross-selling initiatives, gather client feedback, and use data insights to enhance engagement and account growth.
- Deliver sector-focused BD events, manage award submissions, and coordinate speaking engagements and sponsorships to boost the firm’s market profile and industry presence.
- Utilise CRM systems and analytics tools to track pipelines, measure ROI, report on BD performance, and support data-driven decision-making.
The Candidate:
- Proven business development experience in professional services (legal, IP, or consultancy) with a strong track record in bids, client development, and campaign delivery.
- Credible at partner level, with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities, and a proactive, collaborative approach.
- Demonstrates commercial awareness, strategic thinking, and the ability to deliver data-driven BD initiatives using CRM tools and analytics.
- Measures success through growth in new client instructions, revenue, and international expansion, improved pipeline conversion and visibility, and strong partner engagement.
