The Company: 


A leading national professional services firm is looking for a Business Development & Marketing Manager to join their successful team in the South West. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of devising and implementing BD and marketing plans within a professional services environment.


The Responsibilities:


  • Prepare robust business development plans in line with national strategy
  • Undertake research to identify sector targets and support business development activity
  • Actively manage the office pipelines, taking responsibility for initiating contact with cold targets and ensuring contact is maintained through the pipeline, helping partners cultivate target relationships and develop action oriented targeting plans
  • Attend networking events and encourage fee earner attendance with a view to developing leads
  • Attend introductory and scoping meetings with prospects
  • Challenge partners on their approach to BD opportunities, and proactively take responsibility addressing any areas for improvement
  • Report on office BD activity and take responsibility for the accuracy and monitoring of office BD KPIs, working with the partner group to address areas of shortfall
  • Project manage high value tenders and provide strategic input and advice on other tenders, ensuring the proposals process is followed
  • Support the development of a credentials and tenders bank
  • Adopt the role of brand champion, ensuring all communications are brand compliant and in support of the firm’s communications strategy, including driving the active use of social media
    • Coach partners and managers through the business development cycle and help motivate and drive positive behaviours, acting as a sounding board for live opportunities
  • Manage and drive an effective intermediaries programme to maximise work referrals
  • Deliver effective internal communications
  • Liaise and follow up with the PR team to ensure adequate, timely and appropriate regional PR coverage


The Candidate:


  • A professional with strong marketing and business development experience at a managerial level, particularly in targeting new business and proposal project management
  • Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of the business development process, ideally within a professional services environment
  • Solid and relevant commercial understanding and experience
  • Experience of managing large projects and multiple relationships
  • Management of own workload with minimal supervision
  • Line management experience preferable
  • A marketing degree and CIM qualification is preferable
